Remarkable clients like ours expect the very highest levels of
in-depth, personable and professional service from their Private
Bankers. It requires exceptional attention to detail, commitment
and hard work. It also means being yourself, and making the most of
your individual talents. This is just one of the reasons why we
place great emphasis on individual development. So, while we expect
you to take personal ownership of developing your career, you can
expect the following training and support from us:
Initial Training Programme (ITP)
Over the course of your first eight weeks with us, this
programme will help you develop your understanding of the financial
markets in which we operate, as well as the products, instruments
and services we offer. Through case studies, workshops and
presentations, the ITP will help you build a platform on which to
establish your technical and professional skills. During this time,
you'll work to complete your Investment Management Certificate
(IMC), as well as taking part in a range of networking events and
external team building activities.
Working alongside a Private Banker
Whether you're on the first year of our graduate programme or
the Summer Internship programme you'll work alongside and be
managed by a Private Banker in either our UK & Ireland or
International Private Bank. They'll share their unrivalled
expertise with you, enabling you to learn from them and grow your
knowledge and experience of building a book, as well as the value
they place on building deep and lasting relationships with their
clients.
Rotations
One of the best ways to broaden your knowledge and find out how
we work, a bespoke rotational process will see you working in
different areas of the business. This includes an international
placement and a product group placement, as well as a rotation into
one of our other business areas.
Becoming a Junior Private Banker
After you've successfully completed the programme a number of
career possibilities will be open to you, including promotion to
Junior Private Banker or pursuing growth opportunities across
Barclays Wealth. We'll work with you to design a clear development
pathway and progression plan.
Continuous Development
At Barclays Wealth we take a long-term view of your future and
our training reflects that. In addition to the CFA qualification, which
is the ultimate indicator of credibility in our industry and a
required course of study during your three years, ongoing training
is offered throughout the programme. This will be in the form of a
supported learning curriculum, speaker sessions, networking and
alumni events, and our brand new market-leading knowledge
management system "L@B" - Learning at Barclays Wealth, which offers
access to around 300 learning resources.
As you'll see, we aim to help you develop all of the banking,
investment and client skills you need to become a Private Banker to
some of the world's wealthiest individuals and families.
