What Private Bankers Do

Here at the wealth and investment management division of Barclays, we're dedicated to providing our clients with a bespoke wealth management service that recognises and anticipates their individual needs. We build close relationships, explore new possibilities and create unique opportunities for our clients to acquire wealth, use it, enjoy it and pass it on.

We offer a comprehensive range of investment advice, banking solutions and products across all asset classes, as well as access to the expertise and execution capabilities of investment banking. And we do that for a variety of clients in both onshore and offshore markets, in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the South Asian Diaspora, South America and the USA.

The process of client engagement can begin in many ways - through referrals from the other business divisions within Barclays, via personal contacts, other clients and intermediaries, or at industry events. We also take a proactive approach to business development, researching the market and potential clients to create our own leads. So we expect our Private Bankers to take a proactive approach to building their own client base. It's about turning deals into successful relationships, and prospects into long-standing clients.

Our Private Bankers start by considering how best to position the bank, to deliver our key propositions and tailor our approach to individual needs. Conducting a rigorous assessment enables them to gain an in-depth understanding of their new client's financial personality and investment objectives. Then, with a comprehensive range of investment products and services to work with, they can begin to guide the client towards a personalised portfolio. And, to enable their clients to achieve their long-term wealth goals, they carry out regular reviews to adjust their portfolio in light of changing needs and new product developments.

So this is all part of Private Banking with the wealth and investment management division of Barclays. But, no matter where in the world we're operating, which services we're offering and whose needs we're aiming to meet, one thing remains at the heart of it all. A relationship based on trust and understanding.
