The Programme

Our structured three-year graduate programme is designed to give you all the knowledge and experience you need to make the most of your career as a Private Banker. At Barclays Wealth we are committed to continuous learning. We believe in a true meritocracy where we will support you to develop your career to its full potential. You are in the driving seat and should take personal ownership of developing your career. As well as gaining valuable experience through the role you are performing, you should expect the following training and support:

Initial Training Programme (ITP)

Over the course of six weeks, we will help you develop your understanding of the financial markets in which we operate, as well as the products, instruments and services we offer. Through case studies, workshops and presentations, the ITP will help you build a platform on which to establish your specialist expertise.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

Looking ahead, we see a strong commercial advantage in having our client-facing staff holding the Chartered Financial Analyst qualification. For us to be the best and for our clients to believe in us, we need to measure ourselves against the most challenging international benchmark, the CFA. Typically, you will take Level I in your first year at Barclays Wealth and complete Level II and III over the next two years. Passing all three levels is a requirement of the graduate programme. Challenging and demanding but equally rewarding – and the ultimate indicator of credibility – the CFA not only marks you out as the best in your field when out in the marketplace, it also serves to establish confidence in us from our clients.

Continuous Development

In addition to the CFA, which is a required course of study during your three years, ongoing training is offered throughout the programme through speaker sessions, alumni events and our brand new market-leading knowledge management system “L@B” – Learning at Barclays Wealth. L@B is helpful when designing individual personal development plans, provides access to 300 learning resources and is a sign of our commitment to continuous development. Our extensive e-learning library allows you to choose from a variety of online courses, which will help you to improve and increase your knowledge. These include courses related to our products and required technical knowledge, along with soft-skills training.

Rotations

Our rotation process allows you to work in different areas of the business in your second year and is one of the best ways to broaden your knowledge and find out how we work. This includes an international placement and at least one product group placement.

Alumni

Finally, we have created a strong alumni network amongst all of our campus hires and we organise several events each year giving our Analysts the opportunity to get together with those who have similar experience.
