Q: Why did you join Barclays Wealth?
A: I wanted to have a
change of direction. I felt Barclays Wealth was a really interesting
way to go because it’s such a new organisation, something that was just
building up and I thought it would be quite an exciting time to join.
Q: What have you been doing since you joined?
A:
Well, I joined in February and since then I’ve been in a generalist
role in the HR Department. So that means having quite a lot of contact
with the business and I’ve been doing recruitment and things like that.
But the way the graduate program works is that you do 6 month rotations
in different areas, so next month I will be moving onto a different
area.
Q: What support and training have you received?
A:
I’ve had a lot of support from people in Barclays Wealth, people in the
HR department who have been there since Barclays Wealth started and
others who have also just recently joined. They’ve really supported me
and given me lost of feedback on things that I’ve done. And I’ve had
quite specialist HR training as well, throughout, which has been very
helpful.
Q: What’s it like working here?
A: It’s been
really interesting for me because it’s such a change to the career that
I was originally planning. So it’s been a real eye-opener for me. It’s
been really interesting, I’ve learnt so much since I’ve been here, so
for me it is the learning aspect. I’m learning new things every single
day.
Q: What excites you about your future here?
A: The
main thing for me, is what I’ve found so far, is that people are very
passionate about working here and about the journey that Barclays
Wealth is going on – so that is something that really excites me,
because you know that there is going to be a lot of opportunity for you
to do great things.
Q: What qualities do you need to work here?
A:
I think it’s really important to be someone who is confident, someone
who can adapt well to change, because things change all the time.
Someone who is quite patient because you know sometimes things aren’t
perfect first time. And I think also someone who questions things,
because it’s really important not just to take things at face value,
but to also make sure that you’re questioning the people that are
telling you what to do. So you’ve got your own opinion and your own
input into things that you do on a day to day basis.
Q: Why should someone come and work at Barclays Wealth?
A: I think good money, good fun, and you learn a lot - you are working with lots of really professional and experienced people.
